Five iPhone Uses You Haven't Thought of Yet

iPhone

The iPhone is as popular as the day it arrived on the scene, but it looks a lot different.  Its current incarnation is the 3G S, a highly optimized form of the original version that can handle more apps, more power, and more usage.  Even though we're getting used to the iPhone as part of our daily lives, we still haven't explored its full potential.  That's why you're about to learn five odd uses for the popular gadget you might not have thought of yet.

1.  The icebreaker.

There's nothing quite as awkward as sitting in a social situation with people you don't know.  If you need to spice up an hour in the waiting room or long trip next to someone on the bus, use your iPhone as an icebreaker:  play a game of chess or show them the pictures from your latest trip to Switzerland.

2.  The attention-getter.

Of course, sometimes you can't break the ice without having someone's attention yet.  If you're with a friend, whip out a fun App that might appeal to someone you'd like to meet; when they ask what you're doing, hand them your iPhone and let them join in.

3.  Go old-school.

As you can see suggested here at iPhoneNuts.com, there's an App that lets you dial numbers using the old rotary phone technique.  Why not embrace that idea and turn your entire phone into a tribute to the early 20th Century?  Enter your friends with their full names ("Bill" becomes "William").  Mustache optional.

4.  Be discreet.

Find the "Auto-silent" app here and rig your iPhone for radio silence.  Don't worry about bringing it to movie theatres or business meetings ever again.

5.  Notarizing.

Of course, you can't become a notary with your iPhone alone, but you can use the picture feature to monitor some important documents.  Why not take advantage of that in-born technology and make sure you can prove that you actually did see that billboard you were talking about?

Using your iPhone doesn't have to be all business or all pleasure.  With the right mix of applications, imagination, and creativity, you can customize your iPhone and make it work for you - even if you haven't thought about how to do that yet.
