iPhone 3.0 Software - The End Of Jailbreak?

iphone-jailbreakThis Summer’s release of the iPhone 3.0 software may well spell the end of your desire to jailbreak your phone.

The development team have confirmed the inclusion of a copy and paste function, stereo Bluetooth connectivity and tethering capabilities (subject to network); in fact, Apple claim that the iPhone and iPod Touch 3.0 will host an incredible 100 new features.

In spite of this, there are some crucial reasons why users may still choose to jailbreak their hardware- there is still no indication that a “Themes” option will be included, which is a major sticking point for people who like to customize their phones.

In the same boat will be people who wanted more ringing and tone options, on-screen notifications, video recording and categories and folders options; there are still no plans to include any of the above just yet.

It seems there may be some hope for the tradition of iPhone jailbreaking after all.

But potential converts should remember to think long and hard before coming to a conclusion. The development team have sent out a warning that anyone currently using “Yellowsn0w” who downloads the 3.0. package may not only lose the programme- but be unable to get it back

So there you have it- if you’ve fallen in love with your leopard-skin background and have become accustomed to your trademark desktop layout then you’ll still be able to unlock them on the new software. But you should seriously consider whether it might be worth waiting for Apple to do it for you- watch this space!
