Redsn0w Jailbreak Release For iPhone 3.0

Now, who would have thought that only the notorious ubergeek George Hotz would push iPhone Dev Team to be on their toes in releasing the latest official iPhone 3G S jailbreak? Yes, The GeoHot has once again spotted the “hole” for the brand spanking new iPhone 3G S, thus his release of the PurpleRa1n, his own jailbreak for the popular gadget.
Not that the iPhone Dev Team didn’t know about their own holes. It’s just that, they have originally planned to delay the release of their own jailbreak for the 3G S, because they wanted to draw in more iPhone 3G S owners first. However, with the PurpleRa1n getting ahead, they’ve decided to finally liberate the upgraded version of Redsn0w, which was originally just good for the 2G and 3G. This new release is good for the iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS. What’s great is that it can also work on Linux operating system!
Just like PurpleRa1n (which is still on its beta phase), the Redsn0w has risks whereby the users are advised to be cautious about. The operative word is to “backup”, just in case something is amiss.
On the blog of the iPhone Dev Team, they particularly informed the ultrasnow unlockers to be careful when upgrading basebands because there’s no turning back when the unlock is disabled.
