Top Applications for the 3G iPhone

One of the great features of the 3G iPhone is the ability to run third party applications.

There's a lot available - from games to personal finances managers, remote controls (control your computer via your iPhone - great for itunes) and more.

news.com.au has posted a listing of best applications for the new 3G iPhone - and most of them are free.

They're available via the iTunes store.

-----------------------------

Remote: Now you can browse and play the music on
your computer as if it were on your iPhone/iPod Touch. Just pair your
mobile device with your computer and away you go. It also works with
Apple TV and AirTunes wireless music streaming.

TypePad: Allows you to easily update your blog on the go, adding text, links and pictures.

Twitterific: It's the biggest social networking phenomenon since Facebook, and the best client is now in a pocket-sized version.

Comic Touch: Comic Life, once bundled free with all
Macs and now available for Windows too, has spawned a mobile version.
As with its big brother, you can add voice balloons, captions and
effects to your snapshots to give them that humorous edge. Morph your
friends' features with Photo Booth-style effects.

Light: The simplest concepts are often the best.
This free app turns your screen white so you can use your iPhone/iPod
Touch as a torch.

iPint: Makes your iPhone/iPod Touch look and behave
like a beer, using the iPhone's built-in accelerometer to "slosh" as
you move it. It even empties as you "drink" it.

Truphone: If you'd like to keep your mobile bills down, Truphone offers you wireless voice-over-IP calling at dirt-cheap rates worldwide.

Rotary dialer: An old-fashioned dial for making calls.

Cro Magnon Rally: A game that was bundled free with Macs for years now gets a new lease of life as an iPhone/iPod Touch game.

Phone Saber: Following on from a similar application for the Mac, Phone Saber turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a mini Star Wars lightsabre, using the motion sensors to give audio feedback.

Stage Hand: Control your Keynote presentations from
your iPhone or iPod Touch. In portrait mode it's a palm card for the
current slide, in landscape mode it shows the current slide as well.

Remember you can also run third-party apps outside of this list by jailbreaking your iphone.
